At The Red House Bed and Bath, we have been welcoming travelers to the coast of Maine — Penobscot Bay and Deer Isle — since 1995. Following a devastating fire in 2001, we built a new Red House. It is spacious and quiet, with a relaxed and informal atmosphere.
The temperate maritime weather is a welcome relief from sweltering summer heat. Clear night skies encourage unparalleled stargazing of the Milky Way, the midsummer Perseid Showers and Northern Lights in the cool nights of autumn.
Our big deck overlooks granite ledges and gardens, looking down toward the water. It is a great spot for watching birds, enjoying the sun, a good book and a glass of wine. It is just a short walk down to the water for a cold swim and views of the Eggemoggin Reach. We are also only 1/2 mile to a public beach and many walking trails protected by the Island Heritage Trust.
"While Sally, my loving wife and life partner, died in 2013, she is not forgotten and remains by my side in spirit and love. Sal will be remembered for many things but mainly for her amazing spirit and positivity, her friendliness, creativity and willingness to help everyone, her strength and her razor-sharp wit. It remains 'our' pleasure to share our special home." -Lou Cooper
